Intellectual Reaction - King Kamehameha turned over the Naha stone which weighed five thousand pounds. Who ever could turn over the stone was supposed to be the person to unite the Hawaiian Islands. After KIng Kamehameha turned over the stone, people expected him to to be a great person and to be the best.

Economic Reaction - In Maui, King Kamehameha fought with Kalanikupule, son of Kahekili. The fight ended in Lao Valley, where streams were dammed by the bodies of dead warriors. The battle was known as the Battle of Kepaniwai which means "damming of the waters." This connects to economic because all of the blood that the people shed went into the water.
